Two construction traders from the Bicol region are now facing separate criminal complaints for allegedly failing to pay more than P2-million in taxes
The traders were identified as Andres R. Seva, sole proprietor of A. Seva Construction and Helen T. Delos Santos, sole proprietress of Saint Therese Commercial Construction and Supply.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said the two willfully failed to pay proper taxes.
The BIR decided to bring the matter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) after the traders disregarded the final notices before seizure, collection letters, warrants of distrain and demands before suit that the agency sent to them.
“These who are facing charges. They have undergone audit already. They have been assessed. The assessment became final. However, they still refused to pay. That’s why our advice there is just simple. Pay us. Because if not, these charges have imprisonment as penalties,” said James H. Roldan, chairman of Bids and Awards Committee, Bureau of Internal Revenue
The complaints filed against the respondents were the 94th and 95th charges filed by the BIR under its run after tax evaders program in Region 10. – Aiko Miguel | UNTV News & Rescue
