Pasay City, Philippines – Two active policemen were arrested Tuesday in an entrapment operation conducted by the Philippine National Police Counter Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) in an act of extorting money from jeepney and van drivers en route Malibay, Pasay City.
The cops were identified as PO2 Jerry Adjanu Jubail and PO1 Michael Mindevil Domalanta, both assigned in Malibay Police Station.
CITF Commander PSSupt. Chiquito Malayo said the two cops were receiving P300 to P500 pesos from each driver parked illegally at a terminal in Pasay.
“Nasasakupan nila itong terminal (Their jurisdiction covers the terminal). They have the influence and jurisdiction. We also received some reports na (that) in fact iyong mga colorum na buses ay ini-eskortan pa nila palabas (they even provide escort to colorum buses),” Malayo said.
Malayo added the two cops earned up to P5,000 a day from extortion.
“May organization itong mga vans at bus. Mayroong silang (mga pulis) taong ini-appoint to collect from P300 to P500 na kukunin sa mga bus drivers para makabiyahe,” he said.
(These buses and vans belong to an organization. They have people (cops) whom they appointed to collect P300 to P500 from bus drivers before allowing them to travel.)
Based on records, CITF has arrested 71 police scalawags since its creation in January 2017.
“The CPNP is very clear on his mandate na i-enhance iyong (of enhancing) internal cleansing down to the lowest level,” Malayo concluded. – Lea Ylagan | News & Rescue
