TWO persons who agreed to deliver the illegal drugs in exchange for money ended up getting arrested after the person whom they transacted turned out to be a policeman.

Lieutenant Elwood Ibona, head of the Talisay City Drug Enforcement Unit, led the anti-illegal drug operation that led to the arrest of John Ian Mollina Amigable, 22, of Barangay Labangon, and Jonathan Alas-as Jr., 25, of Barangay Tisa, all in Cebu City, on Friday at 9 p.m., September 9, 2022, in Sitio Mangga, Zone 4, Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City.

Amigable admitted to the police that he delivered the drugs as he needed the money to pay for hospital bills.

He, however, did not mention if the patient was his relative.

The two suspects were supposed to receive P5,000 each had they succeesfully delivered the illegal substance.

Seized from them were suspected shabu weighing 300 grams with a street drug price of P2 million and .45 pistol with three bullets.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said they put the two suspects under surveillance for one week prior to the operation.

Caballes said Amigable and Alas-as were previously jailed in Cebu City Jail.

Amigable was arrested on February 2019 for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or Comelec gun ban.

He was released from prison last May.

Alas-as, on the other hand, was imprisoned for a robbery case in 2014 at the age of 17.

After his release, he was again arrested in 2019 along the intersection of Tres de Abril and N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City for illegal possession of firearm. (BBT, TPT)
