2 fires leave over P1 million in damage

MORE than P1 million worth of properties were damaged in two separate fire incidents in Cebu City on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The first fire occurred at 3:55 a.m. on Newton St., Barangay Pardo, Cebu City.

The fire reportedly started from a room of a house owned by a certain Chuchie Hata and occupied by Joebelle Balbona.

The fire was placed under control at 4:17 a.m. and declared fire out two minutes after.

Firemen placed the damage at P375,000.

Fire Officer 3 Fulbert Navarro of the Cebu City Fire Office said they are still determining the real cause of the blaze since the room where the fire originated has not been occupied for the past three days already.

At 5:59 a.m., another fire erupted beside a hotel on Jasmine Street in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

The fire was placed under control at 6:22 a.m. and declared fire out at 6:26 a.m.

Fire Officer 3 Emerson Arceo said the fire started from Willie’s apartment, which is owned by a certain William Guy.

Two of the six units of Willie’s Apartment were destroyed by the fire, while another one was damaged.

The fire damage was placed at P900,000.

Noeh Lagahit, one of the renters who were sleeping, said he was not able to salvage any of his belongings as he hurriedly left the area when his boardmates woke him up. (BBT, TPT)
