MANILA, Philippines – Two foreigners are facing deportation for violating the country’s immigration laws, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.

In a statement, BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. identified the two as Myanmar national John Simon, 25, and Iranian national Arazil Saeid, 42.

They were arrested by immigration agents in back-to-back operations in Laguna and Batangas.

Manahan said Simon was apprehended at his residence in Laguna last March 5 for overstaying in the country.

“He was arrested Thursday morning at his residence through the assistance of the Sta. Rosa City Police, which resulted in a joint operation against the subject,” he said.

“Upon verification of his travel documents, it was confirmed that he arrived in the country in 2012 and been overstaying since 2016, which is a deportable offense,” he added.

Arazil , meanwhile, was arrested on Tuesday, March 10 after attending a hearing at the Lipa City Hall of Justice following a warrant of deportation issued against him last November.

Immigration records show that Arazil misrepresented in his application for a temporary residence and was ordered deported last August 2018.

“Arazil is facing deportation for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940 for misrepresentation, and has been tagged as an undesirable alien,” Manahan said. “The Commissioner ordered that he be located and arrested, to be able to implement the deportation.”

The two are currently detained at the BI Warden Facility pending deportation.
