SINGAPORE — Two people were injured and taken to hospital on Wednesday (28 October) night after being struck by a large ceiling fan undergoing maintenance at a Tampines coffee shop.
A 20-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman were hurt after a worker’s ladder had hit the “spinning fan”, according to social media posts, during the maintenance at 21 Street Eating House.
According to an eyewitness account, the fan’s blade had hit the young man and the elderly woman, who were sitting next to each other.
Photos on social media showed the fan with bent blades and a man bleeding from his head.
Both the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the police said they received a call for assistance at Block 201D Tampines Street 21 at around 7.10pm.
Both injured parties were conscious when conveyed to Changi General Hospital by the SCDF.
Police investigations are ongoing.
