AN OFFICIAL of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) in Mandaue City reminded motorists to observe minimal speed when driving after two vehicles collided on C.D. Seno Mantawi Drive on Monday, August 29, 2022.

Romeo Perez, the TEU team leader, told reporters that the road accident happened particularly at the intersection on C.D. Seno Mantawi Drive around 9 a.m.

Perez identified the vehicles involved as a Toyota Innova and a Nissan van.

Perez said that based on initial reports they have gathered from witnesses, both vehicles were coming from different directions and crashed at the intersection.

He said one of the witnesses said the Nissan van was running on high speed before the accident happened.

Both vehicle drivers and the passenger of the van got minor wounds and bruises because of the impact of the collision, but no one was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Perez said both drivers could have been lenient in driving at full speed because of the holiday.

August 29 was declared a national holiday as the country celebrated the National Heroes’ Day to honor Philippine heroes for their patriotic deeds during the beginning of the Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire in 1896.

Team already had towed the two vehicles to clear the incident area and not hamper other motorists.

"The vehicles will be under Team's custody to further investigate what happened," Perez said.

Following the incident, Perez reminded drivers to slow down, particularly when traversing an intersection, and look at each lane to avoid accidents.

"Mu menor gyud ta kay d man kita ray muage kay intersection baya ni. Kani naa gyuy usa ani nila wala mag tan aw," Perez added, stressing one of the vehicle drivers did not look at each lane on their side. (HIC)
