Two lucky winners hit the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot of PHP142,580,483 (US$2.58 million) in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) evening draw on Saturday.
The winners correctly guessed the combination of 44-13-19-33-27-39.
PCSO confirmed that the winning tickets were bought in Calamba City, Laguna and Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental.
Both winners have a year to claim their prizes, and need to present their winning tickets as well as IDs.
And in case you’re wondering whether the winners will get to take home the split prize in its full amount, lottery winnings over PHP10,000 are subject to a 20 percent tax. Still, the take-home prize is still a hefty deal.
With the lottery’s PHP236 million (US$4 million) jackpot at stake, many suspect foul play behind the utterly improbable number of winners.
