20-year-old Ðo Thi Hà beat out the 34 other pageant semi-finalists and was crowned Miss Vietnam 2020 after topping the beauty contest on Friday (20 Nov).
A student of National Economics University in Vietnamese capital Hanoi, Ðo hails from Thanh Hoa, a north-central province in Vietnam. According to Angelopedia, the second-year student works as a calf carrier, server, and does fashion work on the side. To cover the expenses needed for her to join the national competition in Ho Chi Minh City, she had saved up and used her savings for the journey.
During the pageant, Ðo was asked, "If you become Miss Vietnam 2020, do you think you are a role model for young people?" to which she replied, "I think whether I am a role model for young people or not, I must always inspire young people."
Throughout her route to the crown, Ðo’s parents, who worked as farmers and day labourers in her hometown, were very supportive and excited about her win. Her victory had reportedly made the people in Thanh Hoa very proud.
Along with the Miss World Vietnam 2020 crown, Ðo also received a cash prize of 350 million Vietnamese Dong (S$20,302). She will also be representing Vietnam in Miss World 2020 stage.
