MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Monday (March 2) that 22 more Filipinos from the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
They are set to be repatriated from Japan soon, according to Health Assistant Secretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire.
The official said details of the repatriation specifically in regards to the date and time of their return will be discussed on Tuesday (March 3) by members of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID).
Vergeire said the 22 Filipinos have already been discharged from a hospital in Japan.
Last week, the first 10 Filipinos who were infected have already recovered and sent home.
Out of the 538 Filipino crew members and passengers aboard the cruise ship, 80 were infected by COVID-19 since the ship docked for quarantine on February 3.
