22 Omicron cases recorded in Cebu

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas confirmed Tuesday, January 18, 2022, that there are 22 cases of Omicron variant of Sars-CoV-2, which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), in Cebu.

DOH-Central Visayas Chief Pathologist Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said that 16 of the cases are overseas Filipino workers, one is a returning overseas Filipino, and five samples were sourced from the local community.

Loreche said they received the result from the Philippine Genome Center last Monday, January 17, 2022.

Out of the 78 samples sent from December 27, 2021 to January 6, 2022, only 22 samples tested positive for the Omicron variant. (IRT)
