231 individuals in Lapu-Lapu City get citation tickets for being ‘half-naked’ in public

THE Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) has reminded the public to refrain from roaming around public places half-naked or partly dressed.

LCPO Director Elmer Lim said they are strictly implementing an ordinance in relation to this, adding that police personnel issued citation tickets to 231 individuals from October 24 to November 6, 2022.

Lim said this should serve as a reminder that the practice is prohibited.

However, mentally challenged individuals are exempted, he said.

He said it is in the discretion of the police personnel to issue citation tickets to those who roam around the city half-naked.

Meanwhile, Lim disclosed that they also rescued 141 minors during this period.

Mayor Junard "Ahong” Chan had directed the police to strictly implement the curfew for minors following robbery and mauling incidents in the city last September.

He also ordered the police to patrol interior portions of different barangays between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. (MKG)
