THE number of individuals who have registered under the Cebu City Government’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program has now reached more than 277,000.

Data provided by the Management Information and Computer Services (MICS) officer-in-charge Richter Castañares showed that as of July 3, 2021, there are now 277,514 individuals who have registered under the program.

Majority of those who have registered are the economic workers or those under vaccination Priority Code A4. There are 67,050 of them who have registered on the website.

Nationwide, over 33 million people have registered with their local government units (LGUs) to get vaccinated against Covid-19 due to the joint government and private sector information and advocacy campaign, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.

In previous interviews, Cebu City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said the City Government caters to economic workers who are working in Cebu City or have offices located within the city.

Ibones said it is not necessary that the A4 workers reside in Cebu City for them to avail of the Covid-19 vaccination program. They can register as long as they are working within the city.

Following the A4 individuals are those belonging to category A2 or the senior citizens who comprise 66,408 of the registered individuals.

Ibones said the City continues to urge the senior citizens in the city to avail of the program.

Based on data from the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (Osca), there are 87,538 senior citizens in Cebu City.

Other individuals who have registered under the City’s vaccination program are persons with comorbidities who belong to category A3 (52,040); medical workers or category A1 (14,908); indigent individuals or category A5 (29,749); uniformed personnel (3,143); and there are 44,216 others who failed to indicate which category they belong to.

Since the Cebu City Government started its Covid-19 vaccination program, the City has been able to administer more than 106,000 doses of vaccines.

In Cebu City, the vaccination program started last March 24.

As of July 3, a total of 106,203 doses of vaccines have been distributed.

Of the total vaccines administered, 80,486 doses were distributed for the first dose and 25,717 for the second dose.

The City targets to inoculate 70 percent of its total population.

Cebu City currently has a population of around one million.

Cebu City recently received 14,920 doses of vaccines.

Ibones said this is expected to last until Wednesday next week.
