2K security, medical personnel deployed to secure Kalagkalag 2022 in Cebu City

THE Cebu City Government is all set for Cebuanos’ commemoration of Kalagkalag 2022 in different cemeteries in the city.

Around 2,000 security and medical personnel from the Cebu City Police Office and other government agencies have already been deployed for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Tuesday, November 1, and Wednesday, November 2, said Councilor Phillip Zafra.

Zafra, who chairs the committee on peace and order, told SunStar Cebu on Monday, October 31, that City Hall workers were also mobilized to clear passageways inside cemeteries that may have been flooded as a result of intermittent rains these past few days.

The councilor said all key areas in the city remained peaceful and orderly as the public started to flock to cemeteries on Sunday, October 30.

"Dili kaayo ingon ana ka (It’s not that) crowded, even ang mga dagko mga menteryo sama sa (the big cemeteries like) Calamba ug (and) Carreta. So manageable lang. So karon (now) we are expecting nga mo daghan (more people)," said Zafra.

He said they expect an influx of people on Monday and Tuesday.

Zafra encouraged the public to plan their trips ahead and make sure that they go early to avoid overcrowding in cemeteries. (IRT)
