THREE people, including a minor, were hurt after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded inside a house in a private subdivision in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City on Sunday noon, Dec. 27, 2020.

Fire Officer 3 Junryl Siaboc of the Talisay City Fire Station identified the victims as Aga Silmar, 36; Niña Macalinao, 38; and Daniel Gabuya, 16, all residents of Deca Homes Phase 3 in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City.

Siaboc told Superbalita Cebu that Silmar and Gabuya served as caretakers of a store selling refilled LPG tanks owned by Arlene Sayco while Macalinao was their customer.

Siaboc said the two men were reportedly testing one of the LPG tanks they were about to sell to Macalinao even if one of them had reportedly earlier turned on the stove inside the store.

Siaboc said one of the two caretakers was reportedly cooking their lunch at that time.

The flame from the stove caught the released gas from the LPG tank, causing the explosion, Siaboc said.

The three sustained several burns and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

During an interview with fire officials, Sayco committed to shoulder the medical expenses of those injured in the explosion. (BBT / JKV)
