3 orchid collectors fall to their death in Tagaytay

Three men collecting orchids died

Monday

afternoon

after they slipped and fell some 40 meters down a ravine in Tagaytay City in Cavite, police said.

Cavite police chief Senior Superintendent John Bulalacao said the three fell from a ridge near a crossing in the Iruhin Central area near the Tagaytay Highlands. The mishap occurred at about 3:20 p.m.

"Ito ay mga naghahanap ng orchid at bonsai sa Tagaytay," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

Two of the fatalities died on the spot. They were identified as Jaime Daño and Rogelio Lara.

A third, Michael Solis, managed to ask for help from nearby residents. But he, too, eventually succumbed to his injuries. — DVM, GMA News
