On In The Know’s “Wellness Lab,” we bust common health myths and learn about the best products for keeping your health in tip top shape with our host, Dr. Alok Patel.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that you should be brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing. Bad oral health can cause bad breath, tooth decay, cavities, gum disease and more.
On this episode of “Wellness Lab,” Dr. Alok Patel provides tips and devices for keeping your mouth healthy, starting with his go-to electronic toothbrush.
This Sonicare toothbrush has all the works: a 2-minute timer, rechargeable batteries (which is great for travel) and a pressure sensor that gently pulses to alert you when you’re brushing too hard. According to its product description on Amazon, it removes up to seven times more plaque versus a manual toothbrush. If you’re going to spend four minutes a day brushing your teeth, you might as well make sure your time is well spent.
Next up, mouthwash. This one by Crest is alcohol-free so you won’t get that serious burn that makes your eyes water and your gums tingle (you know the feeling). It provides a gentle clean and contains fluoride for strengthening your teeth and preventing cavities. This mouthwash also comes in a fresh mint flavor, if that’s your thing.
Shop: Cocofloss, $9
Last, but not least, you should be flossing every day. Cocofloss comes in four fun flavors — delicious mint, fresh strawberries, pure coconut and cara cara orange — and colors. Dr. Alok says he likes how thick this floss is for really cleaning between your teeth and removing food and plaque from those hard to brush places.
