300 ECQ violators caught

AUTHORITIES have apprehended 300 persons who violated the guidelines implemented during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) since June 16, 2020.

The team formed by the Cebu City Government to enforce quarantine rules apprehended these violators from Thursday, June 18 to around noon of Friday, June 19.

Probe chief Raquel Bohol-Arce told Superbalita Cebu that they apprehended 222 last Thursday and 78 at noon Friday.

Probe stands for the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement team.

The ECQ violators were rounded up because they failed to wear masks, refused to observe social distancing and used the quarantine pass as license to roam around the city. From general community quarantine or GCQ, Cebu City was reverted to ECQ from June 16 to 30.

The violators were brought to Plaza Independencia where they spent 12 hours. During these hours, they underwent seminars, prayed the Rosary and did drills.

Most of the violators came from Barangays Lorega-San Miguel, Basak San Nicolas, Basak Pardo, Poblacion Pardo and Mabolo, among others.

Arce was tasked by Mayor Edgardo Labella to discipline ECQ violators in Cebu City.

Probe is part of the Cebu City Covid-19 Action Team, which is also composed of the market operation division, Bantay Dagat and other offices in the city government. (PAC)
