FOUR referees from the Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) just finished the three-day online Philippines Football League (PFL) Referees Refresher Course 2020 for Visayas and Mindanao last Aug. 28 to
Referees Dave Intong, Janry Acaso and Jasper Gerarman, and assistant referee Levei Sabella of the CVFA finished the course that was mentored by Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Referees Department head Edwin Alobin and Allan Martinez.
Because they finished the course, they will be able to officiate the upcoming season of the PFL, which would most likely kick off in October.
The online course was attended by 18 referees and assistant referees and five referee assessors from the Visayas and Mindanao.
The course tackled the following topics: Laws of the Game 2020/2021, Penalty Area Incidents, Challengers Tactical Fouls, Offiside, Handball Situations, and Positioning and Reading.
“The development of our match officials is pertinent to the growth of the professional league,” said PFF general secretary Edwin Gastanes in a post at the official website of the PFF. “We thank the participants who attended the course which will benefit them on the eventual return of football in the country.” (EKA)
