NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Debold Sinas on Tuesday, March 10, confirmed that four personnel have been ordered to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days, the incubation period of Covid-19.

Two civilian personnel recently arrived from a vacation in Japan, a staff sergeant frequently attended the Muslim prayer hall in Greenhills, and a lieutenant colonel is a close contact of his wife who also has a history of travel in Japan.

“Pina-direct namin na magself-quarantine sila, i-monitor lang ng district health officer namin,” Major General Sinas said.

Japan has over 500 cases of Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, while the prayer hall in Greenhills was also visited by patient number 5, a 62-year-old Filipino male from Cainta, Rizal who is now in critical condition.

Sinas said the lieutenant colonel was diagnosed with tonsillitis after suffering from sore throat and fever.

Sinas said he ordered the cancellation of all foreign trips of NCRPO personnel as a preemptive measure against Covid-19.

Meanwhile, PNP General Hospital officer-in-charge Duds Santos denied that a Covid-19 patient is undergoing treatment in the said facility.

“Sa ngayon walang naka-confine (sa PNPGH) na may flu-like symptoms, ‘yung pasyente kahapon meron lang siyang soar throat at base sa laboratories results niya meron lang siyang bacterial infection, hindi covid, pero nagconsult lang din kami sa DOH at sila nag-confirm na hindi naman siya covid,” he said.

Major Santos also explained that parts of the hospital were cordoned off as part of preparations for Covid-19. (SunStar Philippines)
