MANILA, Philippines – Four crew members of a stranded barge were rescued in the waters off Siaton Point in Negros Oriental, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Friday.

The PCG said its personnel aboard the Multi-Role Response Vessel (MRRV) 4406, BRP Suluan, conducted the rescue operation on Thursday on crew members of a barge that was dragged by strong currents.

The BRP Suluan was on routine maritime patrol when it was alerted about the vessel, which has been adrift since Nov. 26.

The PCG assured that rescued individuals were all safe.

The barge has been towed to the nearest bay for sheltering and repair.
