41 traffic lights damaged by Odette in Cebu City back in operation

FORTY-ONE traffic lights in 64 intersections in Cebu City have been restored after they were damaged at the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (Rai) on Dec. 16, 2021.

Lyntoni Alburo, head of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), said on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 there were traffic lights, including the old ones, that were blown away by the strong winds.

These lights are still missing, he said.

The CCTO has no problem with the digital traffic lights because they were newly installed and there are contractors who can take care of them, Alburo added.

As of this writing, Alburo could not yet give an estimate on the total damage to Cebu City traffic lights caused by Typhoon Odette because these are still undergoing evaluation and repair by the CCTO.
