42,000 indigent students in Central Visayas benefited from DSWD’s educational assistance

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) has released P112.72 million worth of educational assistance to 41,702 indigent students during the six Saturday payouts, which ended on September 24, 2022.

According to DSWD 7 Director Shalaine Marie Lucero, majority of recipients were vocational/college students (16,898), followed by elementary students (10,381), high school students (8,519) and senior high students (5,904).

Based on the DSWD’s records, Cebu had the highest number of beneficiaries in the region with 32,334 students, followed by Negros Oriental with 5,907 students, Bohol with 2,974 students and Siquijor with 487 students. (PAC/PJB)
