50 Cebu LGUs to join Pasigarbo sa Sugbo

ABOUT 50 of the 51 local government units (LGUs) in Cebu province have committed to join the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, which will be held in commemoration of the province’s 453rd founding anniversary in August this year.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she will provide the necessary funds to the concerned LGUs for the celebration.

She promised a P1-million assistance to those joining the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, while she said towns in Bantayan and Camotes will get a P1.5-million fund.

Garcia led Wednesday, July 6, the first general assembly of all mayors under Cebu Province at the Provincial Capitol.

Tourism officials of the 50 localities and component cities in Cebu were also present to discuss the preparations for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo.

"Last time, ang ni-participate 44 kabuok lungsod ug dakbayan...ang matag lungsod sa akong nasayran duna na gyuy festivals. It is the most multicolored varied and diverse competition but there will be a common criteria. Duna sa'y festival queen competition," said Garcia.

Part of the month-long celebration is the “festival of festivals.”
