British athletes are likely to have COVID-19 jabs before heading to Tokyo for the Olympics and none has expressed any opposition to vaccination, Team GB head Mark England said on Thursday. The British Olympic Association said in January athletes would not jump the queue over health workers, the elderly and vulnerable but the pace of Britain's vaccination programme has changed the debate. "Given the government conversation now of opening up vaccinations for people over 20, for sure it looks likely that the team will be vaccinated beforehand," England told Reuters after announcing the team's Olympic archers.
"There will be a lot of carriers that will not make it through," Air France-KLM Chief Executive Ben Smith said, citing nameless rivals that were "not viable prior to the crisis". For survivors like state-backed Air France-KLM, market consolidation would be welcome, Smith said, adding: "Even if it takes longer than planned for traffic to return, with a reduction in capacity that's a good balance for us". Air France-KLM expects to need more capital following a 10.4 billion euro ($12.5 billion) bailout in 2020 and 1 billion-euro share issue this week.

Greta Thunberg, the 18-year-old Swedish climate activist, criticized and cast suspicion over politicians as she addressed the US House Oversight Subcommittee on Environment via video call on Earth Day, April 22.Thunberg had been invited to join a discussion about ending fossil fuel subsidies as part of measures against climate change, and immediately cast doubt over Congress’s willingness to take action.“I don’t believe for a second that you will actually do this,” Thunberg told the subcommittee. “The climate crisis doesn’t exist in the public debate today. And since it doesn’t really exist, and the general level of awareness is so absurdly low, you will still get away with continuing to contribute to the destruction of present and future living conditions,” she said.“How long do you honestly believe people in power like you will get away with it?” she asked, before warning them that accountability was “inevitable” and urged political leaders to “save [their] legacies.”“We, the young people, are the ones who are going to write about you in the history books,” she told them. I think in physical terms, it will go very well. However mentally, it's more challenging. It's more difficult because we know what we're exposing ourselves to. The first time we went, we were leaving for an adventure. We knew it was going to be difficult because we've been told so, because we're imagining it and we are able to understand it. But we don't really know quite how difficult it will be, or exactly what or when it will get difficult. The second time, we know exactly what we're getting ourselves into. When you've already run a marathon, you know that it will hurt. It's exactly the same this time."
