THE fifth most wanted person in Dumaguete City is finally in custody after elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Negros Oriental Provincial Field Unit (CIDG-Nopfu) and operatives of the Dumaguete City Police Station launched Oplan Pagtugis on Monday, September 5, 2022.

Helbert Abdulbaki Rahiol, a 39-year-old resident of Northville Subdivision in Barangay Bolocboloc in Sibulan town, was arrested in Barangay Poblacion 7, Dumaguete City past 9 a.m.

The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Joey Caise, CIDG-Nopfu chief.

Rahiol had a warrant of arrest for the crimes of violating Sections 5 (drug selling) and 11 (drug possession) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Regional Trial Court Branch 36 Judge Michael Maglasang Mernado Jr. of Dumaguete City, who issued the warrant on August 30, set bail at P200,000 for Rahiol’s drug possession charge but did not recommend any bail for his drug selling charge.

Rahiol is currently detained at the CIDG-Nopfu stockade.

Oplan Pagtugis is the Philippine National Police’s campaign against wanted persons. (BBT/PJB)
