600,000 students set to receive school supplies from Cebu Province

THE school supplies intended for around 600,000 students in public schools in Cebu Province have been readied by the Provincial Government.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said they have been finalizing the items, which include pad papers, bags, ballpens and crayons, among others, as classes are expected to start on August 22. These items will be distributed to students from kindergarten to high school.

"Yes, the other items are already ready. We are just finalizing kay ang mga notebooks gi kompleto pa, ang mga pad paper, bags, ballpens, crayons for the kindergarten students. Those are already available. Ang notebooks nahangyo nasad namo ang presyo at least August or September lang were talking here of 600,000 from Kinder to K12," said Garcia.

The governor earlier announced that she will resume the distribution of school supplies to students in public schools in the province to help the parents cope with their financial needs.

She also said that she will revive the nutrition program for students once classes start in August by expanding the coverage of “Sugbusog” and “Sugbo Negosyo” programs of the Provincial Government.

Garcia also saw the need to have a gardening program in schools, wherein the harvests will be used for the feeding and nutrition program.

"I also want to come up lagi of a kind nga nutrition program to tie up with Sugbusog and Sugbo Negosyo. We are trying to talk for the support sa Parent and Teacher Association. I want to spend much of our funds sa mga students," she said. (ANV)
