A 65-year-old member of the Congressional staff passed away due to COVID-19.
According to House of Representatives Secretary General Atty. Jose Luis G. Montales, the person with underlying medical conditions had no travel history to any country with confirmed COVID-19 case and no know exposure to a confirmed case.
He attended a garden wedding on March 7.
He went to St. Luke’s in Quezon City on March 10 after developing low-grade fever. Tests showed normal results, and he was sent home for further observation.
The next day, he started having dry cough, and his fever persisted.
He returned to St. Luke’s on March 13, where he was placed in isolation and then admitted to the critical care unit and intubated.
On March 15 he was transferred to the ICU, and was considered a Patient Under Investigation.
He underwent testing for COVID-19.
According to Secretary General Montales, their medical doctor later said that the DOH informed them that the Congressional staff member tested positive for the disease. — Vincent Arboleda
