Each of the 7,335 houseowners living in Cebu City received the P5,000 cash aid by city government after their homes were affected during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (Rai).

The house owners who received the initial cash assistance were residents of 18 barangays: Binaliw, Budlaan, Cambinocot, Capitol Site, Cogon Ramos, Guba, Kamagayan, Pahina San Nicolas, Pamuta, Paril, Pulangbato, Pung-ol Sibugay, Sambag 2, Sinsin, Sirao, Sudlon 2, Tagbao and Talamban.

Acting Cebu City Administrator Suzzane Ardosa told reporters they have started distributing the cash aid since Dec. 30, 2021, and it was coursed through the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS).

As of Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, the City had released around P36.6 million in cash aid to the 7,335 houseowners.

The affected houseowners were able to avail themselves of the aid through their barangay officials and the Mayor’s Information and Liaison Office.

DSWS head Portia Basmayor said that as of Tuesday, they were still processing the applications for cash aid by other houseowners in other barangays who were affected by the typhoon.

Initially, the Cebu City Government has allocated around P1 billion for the city’s recovery after Typhoon Odette, with P600 million appropriated to assist residents whose homes were affected by the typhoon.
