THE Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, March 23, announced that 82 more patients have tested positive for the novel coronavirus while eight other patients have died.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, the DOH said the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the country has gone up to 462 while the death toll has increased to 33.
One more patient has recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 18.
Those who succumbed to the disease were Patient (PH) 281, PH266, PH279, PH304, PH328, PH333, PH367 and PH349.
The DOH did not specify whether PH367 had any travel history or had exposure to another coronavirus patient. All others had no travel history.
All eight male patients, aged 56 to 89, had pre-existing medical conditions.
PH281 was a Filipino male, 57, from Mandaluyong City in Metro Manila. He died at 12:18 p.m. on March 19 of septic shock and severe pneumonia. He had pre-existing acute kidney injury secondary to pre-renal azotemia, diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
PH 266 was a 71-year-old Filipino male from Quezon City who died at 2:32 a.m. on March 20. He also had pre-existing acute kidney injury, cardiomyopathy secondary to ischemic heart disease and diabetes mellitus.
PH279 was a Filipino male, 73, from San Juan City. He died at 12:01 p.m. on March 16. He had pre-existing chronic kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and ischemic heart disease.
PH304 was an 89-year-old Filipino male from Bulacan. He died of myocardial infarction, pneumonia and multiple electrolyte imbalance at 10:50 p.m. on March 20. He had acute kidney injury and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
PH328 was a 74-year-old Filipino male from Quezon City. He expired at 11:40 a.m., March 13, of acute respiratory failure. He had pre-existing hypertension and kidney disease.
PH333 was a Filipino male, 65, from Quezon City. He died at 8:35 a.m. on March 21 from acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia and Covid-19. He had pre-existing hypertension and kidney disease.
PH367 was a 78-year-old Filipino male from Parañaque City. He passed away at 5:42 p.m. on March 22. He had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
PH349 was a Filipino male, 56, from Parañaque. He died at 10:32 a.m. on March 17 of acute respiratory failure. He was diabetic and hypertensive. (Jove Moya/SunStar Philippines)
