SINGAPORE — Eight food-and-beverages (F&B) outlets - including Nando's at Plaza Singapura and the Carl's Jr branch at Jurong Point Shopping Centre - were ordered to close for 10 days for breaching safe management measures (SMMs) in the past week.
The Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) added in a media release on Friday (9 July) that 13 other F&B outlets, as well as 56 individuals, were also fined for similar SMM breaches.
The eight premises were ordered to close for breaches such as multiple failures to ensure patrons across tables were seated at least one metre apart, permitting intermingling between groups, and allowing groups of more than two individuals who were not from the same household to be seated across multiple tables.
Nando’s (Plaza Singapura): to close from 8 to 17 July.
Carl’s Jr (Jurong Point Shopping Centre): to close from 9 to 18 July.
Food Junction (Bugis Junction): to close from 10 to 19 July.
Club Diamond (Oriental Plaza): to close from 3 to 12 July.
3 Kings Pub (Lucky Plaza): to close from 3 to 12 July.
Grand Shanghai (King’s Centre): to close from 3 to 12 July.
Sakunthala’s Restaurant (Dunlop Street): to close from 2 to 11 July.
The Bravery (Amoy Street): to close for 10 days from 1 to 10 July.
Premises fined for seating customers too close, playing recorded music
Another 13 premises were each fined $1,000 for breaching SMMs such as seating groups of customers less than 1 metre apart and playing recorded music for customers. P
The premises are: Bakmi Town (Lucky Plaza), Beacho Pte Ltd (Beach Road), Beer Belly (Beach Road), Blue Waves Food Empire Pte Ltd – Kota 88 (East Coast Road), Chan Ju De (Jalan Sultan), Chao Chao Gyoza (Cuppage Terrace), Dong Fang Mei Shi (Mosque Street), Happiest Hour Bistro & Bar (Lorong Chencharu), Ratchada Thai Food LLP – Ratchada Thai Bistro (Jalan Leban), Shinjuku Restaurant Dining (Cuppage Plaza), Shiv Sagar Vegetarian Restaurant (Syed Alwi Road), Sky Bar Entertainment LLP (Beach Road), Wine Magnito (Pahang Street).
A total of 20 individuals were each fined $300 for gathering in groups larger than two while dining at various F&B outlets, while three staff from a food establishment were fined $300 for failing to wear masks.
SMM breaches at parks and beaches
Another 33 individuals were fined for breaching SMMs from 2 to 4 July in parks and beaches managed by the National Parks Board (NParks). These breaches included not wearing masks when not engaging in strenuous exercises, and gathering in groups larger than the permitted limit.
For example, two groups of 11 and 13 individuals each were caught gathering at Kallang Riverside Park. In addition, more than 900 advisories were issued to individuals for not wearing masks or for gathering in groups larger than the permitted limit.
