LAPU-LAPU City had a total of 24 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) active cases as of Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

This after Lapu-Lapu City logged six new cases on Tuesday, July 12.

But Lapu-Lapu City Health Officer Dr. Agnes Cecile Realiza told SunStar Cebu that majority of the infected individuals had experienced only mild symptoms.

Realiza further said most of the active cases were under home isolation while others were admitted to hospitals.

Vaccination continues

Despite the Covid-19 transmission, Realiza said their vaccination campaign remains in effect even though the city has been under Alert Level 1 since last year.

The City health office has conducted regular vaccination activities at the Lapu-Lapu City Auditorium in Barangay Poblacion, the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex near City Hall and Mactan Newtown in Barangay Mactan.

Apart from that, the health office has also conducted daily vaccination activities in different barangays in the city.

Realiza noted that only few individuals have availed themselves of the Covid-19 vaccination compared to when the city was still not downgraded to Alert Level 1 status.

Even though the city only has a few Covid-19 cases at present, Realiza has urged the public to remain vigilant and to continue following the minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks, adding that Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has not yet issued an order lifting the wearing of face masks outdoors or making it optional.
