WITH fans now being allowed to witness the games live, actor and basketball player Gerald Anderson made sure to bring with him a special guest to his games for the GenSan Warriors in the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Invitational at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Anderson’s girlfriend, Julia Barretto, was in attendance for the Warriors’ last two games and the 24-year-old actress is happy that the 5-foot-10 guard is back to doing what he loves—playing basketball.
“It’s his first love,” said Barretto. “It’s something that he is passionate about and he is committed to it. He has invested so much of his time and effort for this team.”
Though Anderson got off to a slow start in GenSan’s first game against EMKAI-Rizal Xentro Mall last weekend, he found his groove against Imus Bandera, scoring 12 points in the first half.
Barretto said this was the result of the preparation Anderson has been undertaking over the past two years.
“The wonderful thing about him is when the game is back, he is just always prepared. So, when the MPBL had a two-year hiatus, he was just training every day and preparing for when the MPBL is back,” she said. “Now that it’s back, he is just ready.”
The product of Holy Trinity University ended up with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting with an assist in GenSan’s 66-74 loss to Imus.
