THE Mandaue City Government is planning to allocate additional funds for the city's participation in the upcoming "Pasigarbo sa Sugbo," the competition of festivals in Cebu on August 28.

Marie Immaline Cortes-Zafra, councilor and chairman of the Committee on Tourism, told reporters on Monday, July 18, 2022, that they plan to issue an additional budget for Mandaue's participation in Pasigarbo sa Sugbo on top of the P1 million financial assistance that will be given by the Provincial Government to the participants.

Cortes-Zafra could not verify yet how much the budget would be.

She said they also call on the Department of Education (DepEd)-Central Visayas to provide more funds to suffice the city's needs for its participation.

She said they sent invitations to several choreographers and asked for their commitment to helping the city lay out plans for the event.

She added that they are also currently in the process of choosing a festival queen to represent the city at the competition.

For dancers, Cortes-Zafra said they plan to coordinate with the DepEd Division of Mandaue to ask those students who participated during the last Pasigarbo sa Sugbo celebration in 2019 for Mandaue to rejoin. (HIC)
