Wearing a non-medical face mask does not replace hygiene standards or guarantee protection from COVID-19. You should still avoid touching your face, wash your hands frequently using warm water and soap, and practice social distancing.

As COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift and vaccine rollouts continue across the country, Canadians are celebrating by safely enjoying modified versions of their favourite summer activities. From patio hangouts to small social gatherings, summer 2021 is a welcomed reprieve from strict lockdown measures from earlier this year.

However, just because restrictions are lifting doesn't mean we're in the clear. Face masks continue to be a necessity for access to public spaces, including restaurants and stores.

If you're looking to upgrade your existing collection of face masks, we've been on the hunt for a comfortable, breathable option to wear throughout the warmer months. One face mask receiving rave reviews from shopeprs is the Adidas Face Masks, available on Amazon, on sale from just $16 for a pack of three.

What are they?

Adidas's multi-pack of recycled polyester blend masks are designed to be a washable and reusable mask you can wear all day long. The double-layer masks are made from recycled materials and boast enough stretch and flexibility to fit comfortably and securely around your face and ears.

To care for your Adidas mask, wash your mask on a hot cycle in your washing machine and tumble dry on low heat. If your mask is wrinkled, you can use a cool iron to smooth out the fabric. The masks are available in two sizes, XS/Small and Medium/Large.

What people are saying

Adidas has a loyal fan following for their high-performance footwear and athletic gear. The Face Mask multi-pack has earned more than 2,600 reviews from Amazon shoppers who consider them to be an "easy to clean" and "breathable" mask to wear this summer.

"This was the most comfortable mask. High quality materials, design and construction,"one Amazon shopper wrote. "It doesn't get too hot and mask absorbs moisture really well. The fit was comfortable and its lightweight and soft. For additional protection there is a filter flap. Filter sold separately."

"I’ve used five or six face mask brands now and these are the most comfortable ones yet," another wrote. "I have been told they look like I’m wearing the cup from a woman’s bikini top on my face, but I don’t care. It works, it fits and it comfortable."

The masks may have more than 1,900 five-star reviews — but there are some customers who have noted some issues with the mask that might not make them the best choice for everyone. Although they're available in two sizes, some shoppers have said that because they don't have adjustable ear straps, they can be uncomfortable for some people to wear.

"I’m a 6 ft tall man. I usually wear medium or large in most products but these masks are way too small for my head," one Amazon shopper wrote. "They’re very uncomfortable but I wish they made a size up as they’re quite practical for the gym."

"I got the large masks and had to give them to my wife," a separate Amazon shopper wrote. "They fit her fine (she's 5 ft 3") but the elastic hardly got around my ears. Very uncomfortable. I'm 6 ft 4", maybe I have too big of a head?"

Other shoppers have cautioned that because they don't have an adjustable nose band, they can be a little uncomfortable for people who wear glasses since they can cause glasses or sunglasses to fog.

"These are light and breathable enough to be comfortable while wearing the mask for an extended period of time. The only problem is that there is nothing to be able to seal the gap at the top of the nose so when I wore sunglasses they would get fogged up," another noted. "I had to move the mask to be higher on my nose and use the sunglasses to 'seal' the gap."

Verdict

If you're looking for a sporty-looking mask to wear this summer, Adidas's Face Masks might be for you. This pack of three is lightweight and breathable for anyone heading back to the gym or anyone looking for something they can wash and wear on a daily basis without waiting for their mask to air dry.

It's good to remember that wearing non-medical masks are not a guarantee that you won't contract or prevent the spread of COVID-19. You should still practice social distancing, hand-washing and avoid touching your face.

Amazon is currently offering a three pack of the masks for $20, meaning you can share them with the entire family or keep in your car or in your purse for when you need it most.
