AEG dumps Boysen Paints to capture Cebu Architects Basketball Club title

AEG came alive in the second half to take down Boysen Paints, 74-60, and hoist the championship in the Cebu Architects Basketball Club last Sunday at the PAREF Springdale gym in Lahug.

Down by as much as 11 in the first half, AEG narrowed the gap to just one at halftime, 34-35, before taking over in the second half. With their shots finally hitting the mark, AEG pulled away and led by as much as 18, 74-56, before coming away with the title victory.

Dexsel Caadan had a near triple-double of 19 points, 15 rebounds, and seven steals and was named the Finals Most Valuable Player.

Bong Gabison and Duane Anino had 12 markers each, the former adding 12 rebounds, four steals, two assists, and two blocks. Zach Go chipped in 11 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Chester Hinagdanan had 16 points and 12 rebounds but was hounded relentlessly by AEG’s defense all game long. The loss was Boysen’s one and only defeat in the tournament but it could not have come at a worse time.

Meanwhile, Buildrite snatched third place honors with an 80-71 win over Unitec. Kim-Kim Rebosura and Joy Salvador had double-doubles to power Buildrite to the win. Rebosura had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Salvador had 14 points and 12 boards.
