MEMBERS of the fraternity Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) in Naga City in southern Cebu surrendered their firearms to police on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

The activity was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Junnel Caadlawon, chief of the Naga City Police Station, and attended by Adrian Mabida, president of Akrho’s Naga Grand Council, and 54 chapter leaders in the city.

Turned over were five improvised .38 revolvers, one .22 revolver, one improvised shotgun, two live ammunition and one grenade.

The police official said he was grateful that the group didn’t think twice about answering his call to encourage its members to give up their firearms.

Caadlawon said the gesture was the group’s way of showing the community that it is sincere in supporting the authorities’ bid to maintain peace and order.

Mabida, for his part, said the fraternity is one with authorities in their fight against criminality in the city. (GPL/PJB)
