Alden Richards comes full circle

Actor Alden Richards has gone far since he landed his first lead role and soap opera debut in GMA’s “One True Love” alongside his first on-screen love interest, Louise De Los Reyes.

Since then, Alden has been working on one big project after another, but no one could have guessed the success and fame that he gained during the “Aldub Nation” fever.

The world has seen Alden grow into the star that the Philippines has come to know. He continues to cause waves in the entertainment industry, but it is his humility and sheer determination to be more than he has become that makes him a darling among fans and critics alike. In a press conference in Cebu on Aug. 6, Alden gamely showed this side of himself. He confessed that going to Cebu will always be memorable for him because of the many “firsts” that he has experienced here.

“It was my first time riding business class and my first mall show alongside Regine Velasquez,” the actor shared.

Alden was in town to promote his latest project, “Start-Up PH.” This series is expected to propel him to even greater heights with more and more Filipinos raring to see more of the young man’s acting chops.

Alden admitted that he faces pressure in being a part of this remake of the hit Korean television drama series, “Start-Up” but is more elated in presenting the drama in a more relatable way for Pinoys.

“‘Start-Up Ph’ will showcase more of the Filipino culture,” he said, “and that is something that we want to give to the audience.”

This is Alden’s first Korean adaptation project, and he is in the lead role alongside Kapuso star, Bea Alonzo. He plays the lead role opposite Bea’s character, Dina. Working with one of the most successful actresses in the Philippines, is another blessing that Alden is very grateful for.

“I have known Bea since 2009, and this is our first project together.” He lauded his co-star’s professionalism saying, “she is incredibly professional at what she does.”

“She is incredible at memorizing her lines very quickly.”

The release date for “Start-Up PH” is yet to be announced but everyone is already curious and excited to see how it will turn out.

As Alden made his way back to Cebu for that quick weekend tour, one can’t help but think how the trip was also symbolic; recalling how much the man has achieved since his humble beginnings, and how it is all coming back to him full circle.
