Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala continues to improve by leaps and bounds as she jumped to no. 763 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings.

The 15-year old is just coming off her fourth professional tournament of the year at the W25 Grenoble where she went as far as the quarterfinals. She was previously ranked as the 903rd player in the world but her phenomenal performance in the recent competition vaulted her 140 spots up to her current ranking.

"Happy with my new WTA ranking!" she said in a Facebook post.

Momentum is clearly on the side of the Rafael Nadal Academy scholar as she started the year by winning the championship in the first leg of the W15 Manacor in Spain. She then reached the quarterfinals of the second and third legs before competing in Grenoble, France.

The current world no. 3 juniors player is now setting her sights on the title in another $25,000 contest in Mallorca, Spain next week. (JNP)
