After a successful debut in the Wimbledon girls’ singles competition, Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala switches over to the doubles play as she teams up with Priska Madelyn Nugroho of Indonesia to take on the tandem of Erika Matsuda of Japan and Valencia Xu of the United States at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday evening (Philippine time).

Seeded third in this tournament, the Eala-Nugrohon tandem will be looking to rekindle the magic from their incredible run in the 2020 Australian Open which saw them win the girls’ doubles title. Eala has also found much success in doubles action, recently winning the French Open girls’ doubles championship with partner, Oksana Selekhmeteva of Russia.

Eala kicked off her bid in the Wimbledon girls’ singles tournament with a huge 6-2, 6-4 win over Solana Sierra of Argentina on Monday evening. She will be looking to keep things going when she battles 17-year old Spanish netter Ane Mintegi Del Olmo in the second round on Wednesday. (JNP)
