Alex Jones has admitted that her third child Annie was "a little surprise" as she spoke about her miscarriage and the reason she wanted to make a documentary on fertility.
The One Show star appeared on ITV1's Lorraine on Thursday morning to promote her new series for W, Making Babies, where she follows the fertility clinic team at King's College Hospital in London.
Although Jones, 45, has three children, she spoke about her own rocky road to becoming a mum and why she felt it was so important to shine a light on fertility.
She told Lorraine Kelly: "For me, Annie was a little surprise. When we were due to start filming my new documentary, I found out I was pregnant and I didn't want to do it while pregnant because that's insensitive. so we waited until Annie was born."
Jones had her children in her late 30s and early 40s, welcoming her first son in January 2017, her second son in May 2019, and her daughter in August 2021, but suffered a miscarriage later in 2017.

She told Kelly: "I know she’s little but we are so incredibly lucky that we have the three kids.
"Between having the two boys, we had a loss, then quite late on there were some complications."
Talking about the importance of the documentary, she added: "I don’t think fertility has been covered at all as much as it should and I think it’s such a good thing to shed light on it and give people an opportunity to understand what others go through.
"I didn’t want to go in there as a broadcaster or the girl off the telly, I wanted to be really involved.
"I think it does show the highs and lows, there are some amazing highs and also some devastating blows and lows for couples who have been trying for years."
Making Babies begins on W on Thursday night (5 January) at 8pm.
