TOP executives of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of China-based Alibaba Group, are confident of reaching their target to help in the digital transformation of up to 5,000 businesses in the Philippines by the end of 2023.
Allen Guo, country head of Alibaba Cloud in the Philippines, said in a virtual press conference Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, that Alibaba Cloud has been providing local partners in the Philippines with world-class cloud infrastructure.
He said they were ready to support more local partners to expand their market share in the Philippines.
“We believe we can support more local partners,” Guo said.
Currently the largest cloud services provider in the Asia-Pacific region, Alibaba Cloud has more than 20 local partners from the retail, financial technology (fintech), media, information communications technology (ICT), business process outsourcing (BPO), healthcare and education sectors in the Philippines.
Selina Yuan, president of international business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said the Philippines is a “very important market” for the company.
The company also aims to train 50,000 and certify at least 10,000 information technology (IT) professionals in the Philippines by 2023.
Alibaba Cloud launched in July 2020 a series of IT training programs, such as the Alibaba Academy Program, Alibaba Cloud Partner Program and Alibaba Certificate Program.
Guo said they will also help set up the digital infrastructure for Philippine businesses that want to establish or expand their presence in China or in other countries.
Feifei Li, president of Alibaba Cloud’s database products business, said they will make sure to provide assistance every step of the way to businesses that want to migrate to cloud computing.
Guo stressed that the adoption of new technologies would speed up recovery in a post-pandemic scenario.
Alibaba Cloud provided the cloud infrastructure for the 2020 11.11 Global Shopping Festival.
Guo said their overall peak order per second reached 583,000, just 26 seconds past 11.11 midnight.
The company said this was 1,400 times higher than the peak volume at the festival’s debut 12 years ago on Nov. 11, 2009.
