Alternative Love Songs Playlist For Valentine’s Day

MANILA, Philippines - Remember Nick from "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist"? He toiled to make mix CDs for his ex-girlfriend who kept dumping these labors of love like she did to him. Good thing Norah recovered the CDs from the trash and discovered the music gems in them.

Finding the perfect music mix is like finding the perfect shoe or the perfect partner that "gets" you and to you effortlessly. So in celebration of Valentine's Day, we asked DJ Lambert Cruz of Jam 88.3, a long-time music junkie and extraordinaire, for song recommendations we can dedicate to our own Nick or Norah. The outcome is a careful and interesting selection of alternative songs ranging from slow jams to head bang-inducing tunes. Perhaps we can even make a mixtape out of these!

"Here's my hope to hit a nerve - a 'heartcake' or a heartbreak. This is a 10-track list that should either get you cured of the 'loner forever syndrome' or maybe reminisce a sweet moment. But to me, this is really to boost one's 'pogi' points. It's the 'landian' month and I suggest you listen to the songs well," he describes the playlist.

DJ Lambert adds, "I warn you, there is a sad story and a couple of tunes that makes you miss her. Some sing out your passion for you when you're still just hoping to be with your dream girl, while there are a few that make your hearts do the St. Vitus dance when your better half is around. Use them to your advantage."

Best to play the "right track" while your "amor" is "in the passenger's seat and you're in for a sure good time loving. And that, I meant a chance for 'COCOL (coffee-coffee lang).' Enjoy!"

Here's the alternative Valentine's Day playlist:

1) The Kooks - "Naïve"

2) Frank Ocean - "Thinkin Bout You"

3) The Xx - "Heart Skipped A Beat"

4) Daft Punk - "Something About Us"

5) Willy Moon - "I Wanna Be Your Man"

6) Arctic Monkeys - "R U Mine"

7) Ronkonkoma - "If You Go I Go"

8) Robin Thicke - "Lost Without You"

9) St. Lucia - "Closer Than This"

10) John Legend - "PDA"
