Cold water swimming has soared in popularity since the pandemic hit – and Amanda Holden has enthusiastically joined in with the trend.

The TV star, 50, shared on Instagram how she had donned just a black swimsuit for a dip in the chilly sea while on a girls' trip.

Captioning a video of the brave moment, she wrote: "It was bloody freezing."

In the clip, she can be seen holding hands with two friends – who were themselves wisely wearing full-body wetsuits – to run into the icy ocean.

Holden revealed that her stylish one-piece was by swimwear designer Melissa Odabash, who she often turns to for bikinis for her sunnier getaways.

The Britain's Got Talent judge's video has been viewed more than 154,000 times, with many social media users sharing their amazement at her willpower.

Author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher wrote: "I loved this so very very very much!!!!"

The actress Nicola Stephenson, who is also on the trip, commented: "You’ve talked me into it. I’m coming in tomorrow."

Other followers posted "brilliant" and "amazing", with one joking "you guys are bonkers".

Holden is on a girls' trip, which appears to be at a seaside location somewhere in the UK, with famous friends including Lisa Faulkner, Angela Griffin, Sarah Parish and Tamzin Outhwaite.

In another Instagram post, the group sung as they sat down to enjoy a festive dinner together.

It comes after the Heart radio host gave fans a peek at what appeared to be the striking decor of her luxurious living room.

In a post on Instagram, she could be seen posing – in a sparkly one-shoulder dress and strappy, silver heels – in the space, which featured a velvet, bottle-green sofa, navy walls and striking art.
