Actress Angel Locsin was not offended by how she was interviewed on the ABS-CBN news program TV Patrol late last week.

The show’s host Alvin Elchico tweeted over the weekend that he received a message from former Congressman Neri Colmenares, Locsin’s nephew.

“Good morning! Last night I got a [V]iber message from Bayan Muna Chair Neri Colmenares where @143redangel (Locsin) said that she was not offended by my questions on @TVPatrol. Thanks for the message, Angel. Thank you too, Cong. Neri,” Elchico said.

The broadcaster also shared a screenshot of Locsin’s message to Colmenares, which said, “Brother, please tell [him] that I was not offended. He asked the right questions so people can hear my answers. He was just doing his job. There was nothing offensive about it and I respect him. I’m sorry if he got into trouble.”

Elchico was attacked by Locsin’s fans when he interviewed the latter about the death of an elderly vendor named Rolando dela Cruz, who fainted at the community pantry organized by the Darna actress in celebration of her birthday. In the TV Patrol clip that has gone viral on social media, Elchico said, “Angel, I don’t think anyone can question your intentions because even in the past, people know that you help. You’ve been doing it for a while. This is not new. Now that this has happened, are you still going to organize another community pantry? Or are you done with it?”

An emotional Locsin responded, “Not anymore. I won’t.”

Elchico later apologized for his questions, saying in his program SRO that he didn’t mean to hurt or offend the actress.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN released a statement saying that the company supports Locsin.

“We admire her commitment to continue serving the Filipino people with selfless dedication and love. We stand by her and thank her for being a shining example of generosity, accountability, and compassion,” the broadcaster said.
