Genshin Impact fans who've been waiting for a new 5-star character can rejoice as publisher miHoYo announced the arrival of Version 2.3.
Coming on 24 November, the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" update will include two new playable characters, the new 4-star good boi Gorou (sorry Razor) and the 5-star Oni-blooded Arataki Itto.
The newest members of Zhongli and Ningguang's Geo family will be coming along with a Hangout event for everyone's favourite sea captain, Beidou (finally).
Arataki Itto's Japanese voice actor was also revealed to be Takanori Nishikawa, who most anime and J-rock fans will likely recognise by his stage name - the legendary T.M.Revolution.
The 5-star Itto will be a Geo claymore user, while 4-star Gorou is the first Geo bow user in Genshin Impact (Gorou also gets a Hangout event, because he is a good boi).
There's also a new boss on Tsurumi Island - the Golden Wolflord, which, like the Rifthounds and Whelps, can apply the Corrosion status that bypasses shields. Guess we all know what we're farming for Itto's Ascension...
Meanwhile, 5-star characters Albedo and Eula will be making their banner rerun returns as part of the main story for Version 2.3, which includes combat events as well as creating your own "Puffy Snowmen". (For our opinion on Albedo and Eula, check out this article).
This is the first time miHoYo is running two 5-star characters at the same time, so we'll have to see if that means they get different 4-star characters with them, which might be helpful for those looking for an elusive constellation for some of their 4-stars.
The trailer also teased a bit of a conflict with Albedo in this return to Dragonspine, so be mentally prepared to deal with the Sheer Cold of the area again as you go about this storyline.
And for those of you Serenitea Pot mains, you'll be pleased to know there's another event with a Warrior Dog to rescue lost critters for a special gadget that allows you to replicate some creature forms in your realm.
All in all, there's some new content to look forward to, but nothing at the level of the 2.0 and 2.1 updates, which is not unexpected but you can't blame Genshin fans for hoping for more.
With Tsurumi Island wrapping up, it's likely that this will continue until the the region of Sumeru drops, although it's likely that we should get the introduction to Dendro characters ahead of that.
Of course, there's still the chance miHoYo adds a special region like the Golden Apple Archipelago from time to time to fill the void of new exploration areas.
