Argao road accident claims life of motorcycle driver

A “DRUNK” driving a motorcycle died after he collided with a Ceres Liner bus on the national highway in Sitio Cancainap, Barangay Tulic in the southern town of Argao, Cebu, at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

The victim was identified as 38-year-old Gualberto Belia Entienza, a resident of Barangay Balisong in the same town.

Entienza was brought to the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Eric Geyrozaga.

Major Andy Michael Roque, chief of the Argao Police Station, said they released the 55-year-old bus driver Feliciano Ligutan Larrazabal Jr., a native of Basay, Negros Oriental, after the latter and a representative of the bus company promised to help the victim’s family with the wake and burial expenses.

According to Roque, Larrazabal was on his way home after a drinking session at his brother’s house.

He said Larrazabal was speeding on a blind curve and was encroaching on the other lane when his motorcycle struck the bus that was headed for Cebu City.

“Kusog gyud daw ni siya mopadagan sa motorsiklo! Ikaduha na gani niya ni nga disgrasya sa permero naluwas,” Roque said.

(The victim was known to drive really fast. In fact, it was his second accident having survived his first.)

The police chief said that stretch of road is an accident-prone area because of the blind curve, which is why they have been reminding motorists to drive carefully.
