A heated argument has led a 19-year-old man to stab his drunk stepfather in Purok 6, Barangay Sta. Lucia, Asturias town, midwest Cebu on Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2022.

Senior Master Sergeant Gilmer Noval, investigating officer of Asturias Police Station, identified the victim as Sulpicio Candidisismo, 30.

Based on the investigation, Noval said the victim got drunk when he and his friends were having a drinking session in front of his house.

When Candidisimo's 19-year-old stepson Crispin Mag-aso arrived, the latter revealed to his mother Angelina that the victim challenged him to a fistfight.

"Maghagit-hagit gyud ni ang ama ama ug sumbagay permi sa iyang anak anak, unya nasuko kay gibadlong nga di na palabi ug inom kay malain na ug makainom na," Noval said.

(The stepfather will always challenge his stepson to a fight, and, during that time, the former got mad after being told by the suspect not to drink excessively as he went out of control when he got drunk).

According to some witnesses, the victim initiated the fight by punching the suspect, who then went inside their home to get a knife and immediately returned and stabbed the victim twice in the right chest and lower left abdomen.

Candidismo was brought to Alan Adlawan Infirmary Clinic but later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.

Mag-aso fled after the incident and is now being hunted by the police. (GDC, TPT)
