Arnel Pineda, Proud Dad To New Baby Girl

Singer Arnel Pineda may belt out power rock ballads on stage but perhaps his stage supremacy will prove no match to the new addition to their family - a beautiful baby girl they've named Thea Chenelle Pineda, born on June 15.

Clearly, this beautiful princess already has the Journey singer wrapped around her little finger. Following Thea's birth, Arnel immediately tweeted, "Welcome to the world our new little bundle of joy and angel. Baby Thea Chenelle has officially arrived last night around 6 p.m."

The singer likewise posted the photos of his daughter with wife Cherry on his public Facebook fan page. The photo album titled "We're proud parents!!!" is accompanied by a note from his wife that reads: "thank u God for watching over me and our baby thea during my delivery.... thank u for giving arnel the strength during my delivery and thank you for our new bundle of joy, a truly gift from heaven our little princess thea :) and most specially to all our friends who prayed and for all the blessings.... we love u from the bottom of our hearts."

Included in the online album is a picture of Thea with big brother Cherub.

On Journey's official fan page, there's also a link to the photo album along with the message: "Congratulations to the newest member of the Journey family!"

In an ABS-CBNnews.com report, Arnel was quoted as saying: "Thanks to all the offered prayers. Both my wife and the little angel made it. I came to conclusion that the mothers are one of the bravest and most noble for the sacrifice they're making just to deliver the baby safe."

Arnel Endorses Audio Brand

This happy event has led to Arnel missing the launch of the inaugural concept store of audio specialist Sennheiser, of which he is the brand ambassador. Happening just a couple of days before Arnel's wife gave birth, Sennheiser had its milestone celebration with its partners, guest and media representatives at the Seventh High Apex Lounge, where attendees were treated to sampling the latest sets of premium headphones, some of which are not even available in the country yet.

Among those unveiled at the launch was the Sennheiser HD 700 high-end headphones, the "perfect combination of outstanding acoustic properties and sophisticated product design" that will be made available locally in July. As Sennheiser product manager Steven Ang noted, "Its warm, balanced and detailed sound turns classical music, jazz, rock or soul into a fascinating listening experience."

Another set launched by the audio specialist is the HD 25 DJ headphone, also known as the Amperior. "Already a legend on the DJ scene, it has been one of the most popular monitoring headphones for over 20 years... an essential piece of equipment in the world's most famous clubs," Ang related. The Amperior will be available in the Sennheiser concept story in the third quarter of 2012.

With the opening of the concept story at the third floor of V-Mall (formerly Virra Mall) in Greenhills, fans of Arnel's and Journey's music - as well as music fans in general - will be able to enjoy optimum sound quality just as it is intended to be heard, only with top quality audio products powered by innovative German technology. Along with the opening of its first Philippine store, Sennheiser Asia is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

On The Journey Front

In related news, Journey guitarist Neal Schon attended the Silverdocs, the documentary film festival in the US, last week in support of the screening of "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey," a film by Ramona S. Diaz. Described as "an aspirational, rags-to-riches story set against the backdrop of some of the most anthemic songs of recent rock n' roll history," the documentary revolves around Journey's search for its new singer, tells the story of who Arnel Pineda is and his discovery by way of YouTube, and the joys and perils of living his dream.

The band Journey currently lists a number of tour dates on their official website, from gigs in July in California through to December in Hawaii.

While strong earthquakes cause tsunamis in coastal areas, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned that inland areas could also be exposed to tsunami-like waves, or seiche, if located near or around bodies of water. In a recent earthquake awareness seminar in Muntinlupa, Phivolcs supervising science research specialist Joan Salcedo explained that a seiche is a large wave similar to a tsunami, triggered by strong ground shaking from an earthquake or volcanic …
