AFTER seeing action for Leylam FC in the Men’s Open Division A, talented midfielder Christopher Ozawa will try to lead Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu to the Boys 16 title when they face the Abellana National School in the AboitizLand Football Cup finals at the Ateneo field on March 14 at 3 p.m.
Ozawa, who scored a goal in Leylam’s 12-0 win over Don Sacredale in the Men’s Division 1, will try to extend his scoring streak against a determined ANS squad that is longing for its first AboitizLand Boys 16 crown in years.
Ateneo ousted KNF-Don Bosco Boys Home, 1-0, in the semifinals with Ozawa scoring the lone goal, while ANS will be riding on its impressive 4-1 win over Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) in the semifinals.
ANS finished second to Ateneo in Group B, but ended the undefeated streak of DBTC A in the semifinals with Mark Lester Zafra scoring twice in the first 27 minutes. Like Ozawa, Zafra will be a marked man in the finals as the two age group powerhouse teams aim for the title.
The Boys 16 match will be the lone AboitizLand Football Cup match on March 14 and the tournament resumes on March 15 with the 45-Above finals between KNF-United and Don Bosco Alumni at 1 p.m. still at the Ateneo field. In the morning games, the University of Cebu-Kajitech will face Makoto and Leylam FC will take on the University of San Jose-Recoletos in the Men’s Open Division A.
On March 29, Ateneo will also face DBTC in the Boys 18 finals. (PR)
